Frequently Asked Questions

What is a pack, what is a den?

A pack is a group of Cub Scouts, organized into dens, ranging from 1st to 5th grade. A den is group of Cub Scouts of the same grade. (Tiger den = 1st Graders, etc.)

How often do you meet?

The pack meets once a month at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection or other off site venues. Dens decide their meeting schedule as a group, typically twice a month, at the same church. Other trips with the den or pack are sometimes scheduled.

What does it cost to be a scout?

Initial fees are $118 to join. The uniform and supplies can vary. Please see scoutstuff.org. We also have a community bin of used uniform items, some fairly new and some show how active we are as a pack.

What if we have soccer, baseball, golf, etc?

Sports and other activities are great for character building, just like scouting. Our schedules are voluntary and achievements can be accomplished at your own pace. It is proven best to participate with the den, but our schedules are flexible.

How do I know what Pack I should join?

Find a pack that fits with your family’s ideals and schedule. All scouts focus on enrichment, service, and outdoor skills. Our pack has scouts from Tarpon, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor, and other surrounding communities.

Can we try it out without a commitment?

Everyone is welcome to attend any and all pack functions.

Is my son too old to start?

We accept new scouts from any elementary grade from Kindergaten to 5th grade.

Do we have to camp?

No, but you may miss out on some of the best experiences if you don’t. We are a close community and there are ways to help if you don’t have the knowledge or gear to trek out into the woods for the first time.
